Implementation of the project KA152YOU: Embrace Your Voice (EMYOUVO)

Hylatio Tourist Village from Friday, October 13 until October 21, 2023

Saturday, October 14, 2023.

This was the first day of the program where we had the opportunity to meet the hosting NGO, ACPELIA, Nikolas, Kateryna and Bobbie.

Our day began with some short introductions and then lots of ice breaking games, in order to learn each other's names and grow closer to each other.

We did that using the ball name game, whereby we threw a tennis ball in a circle to someone, learning their name, and also learning the name of the person we received the ball from!

After that, we created our secret friend posters, where, listening to music, we kept passing our papers around and others were drawing parts of the face, such as eyes, nose and mouth.

Before coffee break, we had a speed dating activity where we learned about each other much better.

After coffee break Kateryna presented herself, her love for music, and what the project is about. Then we tested our voices by singing kiwi, mango and banana in groups to create some great melodies!

After that, the morning ended with a short Youthpass passport game, where we learned in a simple form what the key competences were.

In the afternoon we went to Pissouri to do a treasure hunt in teams. The treasure hunt included questions such as what the village is known for (grapes) and the great views of Pissouri.

We also recorded videos of ourselves, using our voices, as to why we are at the project and what we hope to do! We will compare this by doing an activity similar to this at the end of the project.

The night ended with the cultural night of Poland, where we learned about how complicated words are, as well as a song, and we also had the cultural night of Armenia, where we had a quiz game, and learned also about how noisy and party-like their weddings are like!

The rain in Pissouri didn't limit us to have a nice day full of emotions

Yaaay it's breakfast time Don't forget to have good breakfast in order to have good mood and the energy for the whole day

We started the day by playing a very nice game which is called "Secret Friend" We hope you remember about the envelops and you are going to send each other nice messages or small gifts which will make all of us to feel loved and appreciated

We then made the daily journaling plan for all national teams and Armenia was in charge of the 2nd day, so we did 2 energizers during the day which we hope you guys enjoyed

SWOT analysis in every situation is what makes your goals more clear and your vision more pure All mixed teams enjoyed working together and exploring strenghts , weaknesses, opportunities and threats during the project.

Time for Lunch

Then all of us had free time which we spent either on the beach or just playing barefeet volleyball with some really hot guys and girls (photos attached ).

We came back to witness very emotional (or even spiritual) meditation activity and somehow each of us explored himself/herself a little more and tried to dive into those mixed emotions and maybe find answers.

Theather time without speaking Shakespeare would be speechless , but we made it and did a good job

Last activity was very nice and everyone did a great job getting out of their comfort zone to try something they never tried before, showing how the same statement can sound with different emotions

Thanks to our facilitators Boghos Avedikian and Kateryna Kulyna for this productive-emotional-fun day and thank you guys for contributing your thoughts and opinions also your energy in each activity.

Once again we are here to express ourselves so please remember to be your most genuine and unapologetical version.

This day started with an energizer from Portugal, who put everyone to dance.

After the energizer we went to do the activities that were planned for that day.

First we saw a video, in were the explanation of the meaning to ethos, pathos and logo was giving to us.

Then we were divided in 6 groups, and in groups we had to come up with the best argument using ethos, pathos and logo. To which group was assigned one of this tree forms to persuade a person.

After that the groups competed against the each other, and 5 judges voted for the most persuasive group.

After this first activity was time for us to go on a short break so we could enjoy your coffe and gain the energy to continue trough the day.

The second activity of the day, was the yes or no list. Where we basically had to write down things we wanted to do yes to, and things we wanted to say no to. When everyone was finished with that, there was a safe environment so we could share yours thoughts.

For the third and last activity of the morning, we did yours "Wheel of life", where we were able to realize the parts about us that we don't feel comfortable talking about to others. And again in a safe space, everyone listened to the person that wanted to share a bit of that fear we all of us.

In the afternoon was time for us to come up with a list for a great speech. For that seven people volunteer to take care of a certain space and topic, and all of the others rotate from table to table, where they had to think about the question for each station. In the end the person responsible for the table had to summarize all the ideas and come up with one main ideia and presented to the audience.

After this activity was time for your break and then the next activity consisted "what can we do with your voices?"- Ode to voice.

Finally, there was the intercultural night of Portugal and Ukraine in which both countries made known a little better both their culture, traditions and gastro

Another day in Cyprus has passed, this time mostly in Limassol.

After a healthy breakfast we made our way to the bus and we departed to our first destination - an amphitheater.

We were divided into four groups and we were tasked to come up with a theater play to act on the big, wide ancient amphitheater, based upon a prompt that was given to us earlier.

This experience was a great exercise to make us recall memories about greek mythology and also to let us act on the stage. We had a really good laugh today.

Afterwards we've found ourselves on the way to Limassol and after having had arrived, we were there. The beautiful city of culture and tradition, ranging from cathedrals to castles, shores to prosperous marketplaces.

Each of us had spent their time differently but we can agree on that it was important to take a day off and explore the city.

Only then have we hopped on the bus and returned to our lovely hotel. Let's bring the good mood and renewed energy to a good tomorrow!

Our 5th day was set off with an energizer from Ukrainian Team. We played a classical energizer game called "Hee-Ha-Hoo". Participants had lots of fun and got some energy for the upcoming activities.

Then we discussed our Vocal Heroes, who we find inspiring, what these people do with their voices and why admire it.

For some it's a Whitney Houston, for some it's Oprah Winfrey, everybody has different reasons for their choice, this is a curious thing.

Just after, we divided ourselves into teams to discuss the arguments about who's the best Voice Hero

After a short 30-min preparation we entered the stage to decide, is it Kurt Cobain or John Lennon, Amy Winehouse or Elton John?

Youngsters highlighted many things that are curious to think about, from mental health and drug abuse issues to the charity and musical influence. Suddenly, the heavy rain started and we all became wet for the moment.

Lunch break!

Some participants went to the sea, some were just chilling near the pool.

The second part of the day started with a quick dancing energizer.

We proceeded with our discussion about art. Should be the art separated from the artist itself? We tried to answer those questions.

We also tried to increase our voice abilities by training our ligaments and by engaging in the small jam session.

Our final session was covering the opportunities provided by the EU and how can the youth participate in them.

Overall, this day brought us incredible memories and valuable knowledge.

See ya tomorrow!

The day began with a wonderful energiser by the Cypriot team, which was a traditional game called "Ziziro". Participants were gathered into groups where one member would try to guess who touched it while making the sound of the fly, hence called ziziro.

The first workshop of the day was about voice delivery, where Kateryna taught us about how different aspects of the voice, such as pitch, volume, pace can produce different intentions in dialogue. We were then gethered in groups, where we showcased how modifying these things changed the intention of the sentence. It was eye opening and very interesting.

After the coffee break, we had the opportunity to "Paint our Voice", where we drew how we think metaphorically our voice could be represented. Some drew about nature, due to its calmness, some drew flames which could represented a more harsh or raspy voice.

After the lunch break we had the opportunity to go the beach. At the beach we played a trust game connected to our voice where we were put in pairs, and asked to guide our partner. Whose eyes were closed with our voice. Some used dialogue and some used voice cues. During reflection, it was interesting how trust was easily gained between pairs, even though the beach is quite rocky and pebbly, not exactly an easy place to walk.

The Cypriots also did a rope pull game and afterwards we played mantili, where there were two teams who were asked to run after a towel, the mantili, if their number was called. It was interesting how loud it was and how our voices were unintentionally used to showcase our feelings during the hectic game.

After dinner Kateryna hosted a jam session, were participants hosted a jam session with the instruments they had. They also did acoustic covers and spoke about their view on music in a cozy and safe environment.

The last day of the program! The day began with an energizer from the moldovan team where we were in a circle, and chanted a good morning ritual phrase over and over again until we progressively got louder. This involved getting a participant to come to the middle and leading the people. It was a good energizer and perfect for the last day as it involved using our voices! This was perfect for the next activity of course, which was preparing the speeches using all the techniques we had learned all throughout the project. The theme of the speeches was open, and participants talked about love, insecurities, conflicts, stories, mental health, climate change etc. It was great, as we used our own voice, presented in a manner we saw most appriopriate, and we found it very effective. There were lots of feelings in the room, yet we always felt safe and listened to by everyone in the room. There was no better or worse speech, so we felt free to talk about anything.During the afternoon, we worked on the evaluations of the project, got reminded about the follow-up activities as well as receiving our Youthpasses. This was simply the secret-friend reveal, where we finally realize who was giving each one of us those nice gifts.Lastly, we wrote our final messages to each other, by putting a big piece of paper on our backs, where people could come and write with a marker a message that we might presumably keep forever.
